Jesus Has Left the Building

There’s a famous passage from the book of Revelation. It’s chapter 3 verse 20.

20 Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me.” ( Rev. 3:20 NKJV)

Most people think of this verse as a personal witnessing tool.  They imagine The Lord standing at the door of someone’s heart.  However that’s not what’s going on here.

The fact is the church the apostle John is writing to has pushed God right out the door.   Jesus has left the building!  And now He’s knocking on the door to get back in.

That’s pretty bad considering this church has a full fledged living apostle for an overseer.  Just imagine how many churches toss God out today.

What do you suppose are some easy things we can look for?  How can we tell if a church we know of, has kicked God out the door?  When do we know that Jesus has left the building!

Here are some obvious examples.

When you go into the recreation room and two of the popular games are a Ouija board and Tarot cards.  Chances are

Jesus has left the building.

If meditation classes and a new age book discussion club draw more attendees than a bible study chances are

Jesus has left the building.

And if the church (like the one in this video) invites a commie loving wingnut like Anita Dunn chances are

Jesus has left the building.

Hat Tip Gateway Pundit

Once again Glenn Beck has shown us another very questionable adviser to president Obama.

How ironic having a woman speak at a church about a murdering atheist thug like Mao.  Perhaps Ms. Dunn needs to check out a site like China Aide. A site that will tell her all she needs to know about the nation her hero Mao founded.

Desperation? Or Pure Evil

October 13, 2009

KAMPALA, UGANDA - NOVEMBER 23: Children wait ...
Image by Getty Images via Daylife

When I first heard how an orphanage in Uganda was burned down by an arsonist my first reaction was,

“This is an act of pure evil!”

But when I realized what else happened that night I began to wonder.  Because while the fire was being put out in the confusion a group of villagers came and stole a bunch of clothing.  Was this evil or a desperate chance to get clothing for their own children.

Either way the dormitory for the older girls at the Canaan Children’s home in Buziika Uganda is a total loss.  Now it will have to be rebuilt and all the beds replaced.

Just something to think about when you feel like complaining.  And while you’re at it you can watch this video.

Who needs the likes of (Possible false prophet) Benny Hinn anyway?  And come to think of it, what about Kenneth Copeland and (Mr. TBN) Paul and (Poofy hair) Jan Crouch?  Who needs them?

What if?

What if?

What if instead of people shelling out their hard earned money to people like that, they gave to their local church and their local missions committee?  What if they donated their money only to people who they knew were personally vetted by someone they knew and trusted?

Consider how (Forgive me if I seem to be on a mega-church kick as of late- it’s just the way I roll) the mega-church movement began around the same time as Jim (Mr PTL Club – I got my Rolls Royce on the roof of my mansion while I’m begging for money) Bakker, Jimmy (I have sinned against the Lord, crocodile tears) Swaggert, crashed and burned and Marion (God told me to stay out of politics back in in the 1960’s so I better cull that chapter out of my book even though I should have taken out the chapter where I twisted scripture to justify treating my wife like dirt) “Pat” Robertson had his ridiculous run for the presidency.

Allot of people finally got it.  They only gave their tithes and offerings to people they  knew and could be accountable to.

As a result local churches prospered and many were able to support a large number of local and international mission projects.  Most of these folks will never be a household name.  You’ll never see them on the one eyed electric plasma brain sucker at 3am begging for money and promising a big check in the mail from the Lord Himself.

(And for the record, God does bless when people give from the heart in love.)

But for some reason allot of folks seem to have forgotten that lesson and as a result we’ve got a whole new batch of false prophets ready for the furnace.  Perhaps part of why there’s a decline in church attendance is people see how lame and laughable these TV superstars are and it makes them sick.

Do we need a Christian preacher channel on 24/7?  Or do we need 24/7 prayer warriors like the kind the apostle Peter had when he got tossed in the slammer.  The brother has an angelic assisted jail break and crashes a prayer meeting at 3am!  That’s what I’m talking about!

How did Simon Peter know to show up at Mary, the mother of Mark’s house?  Because he knew they would be praying!  No TV, no internet or cell phones required.

We don’t need Hinn, Copeland and Crouch.  Just gimmie that classic, Book of Acts old time religion!

(You may now order your fire safety team to stand down from high alert)

Wake Up America!

October 9, 2009

How much will it take before Americans wake up and understand the threat of radical Islam? There is no halfway with this religion. Their sacred book makes it that way. You’re either a secular Muslim or a radical.

The Koran demands that all non Muslims and all non conforming Muslims convert by force or be put to death. There is no middle ground here.

This is why you never hear of Muslims condemning terrorist attacks like 9-11. They would risk being killed.

So what will it take to wake America up? What about the case of young Rifqa Bary?

[picapp src=”3/9/0/f/Fathima_Rifqa_2624.JPG?adImageId=4931728&imageId=6313237″ width=”500″ height=”825″ /]

She is a teen who after converting to Christianity feared for her life from her radical Muslim family.  Rifqa fled to Florida where she was taken in by a Christian family.

Now the courts have become involved with experts on both sides stating their case with this poor young girl caught in the middle.

Now it appears as though the parents may win. The court may decide on Tuesday to return Rifqa to her family.

If this happens what will become of her? Will her death be the wake up call for America?  Or will it be just another news story thrown amongst all the others!

May it not be, Lord!  Dear God.  May the court in Florida grant custody to the Christian family.  May this case finally shed light on our sleeping nation.

-In the name of Jesus, AMEN.

Jesus Is album cover
Image via Wikipedia

“What would Jesus do,” became almost a cliche a few years back.  But it taught a valuable lesson for many young people. In any questionable situation think, “WWJD?” What would Jesus do?

Given our current state of affairs in our country I often wonder, what would Jesus do?  What would Jesus say to our president?  What would he say about all the corruption in our state and local governments?

The problem is we really have no idea what Jesus would really do.  Of course many have presumed that naturally, the Lord would be upon their side.  But to automatically presume your thoughts would be The will of God runs smack up against the third commandment.

“You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain.”-Ex. 20 : 7a NKJV

If we look at scripture too often we forget how important context and circumstance are.  In other words, what was going on at the time?  What lead up to that point?  Who was Jesus speaking to at the time, and in what context did he say it?

A good example is the parable of the Prodigal Son.  We allways focus on the dumb son who backslides and is welcomed back by his father.  However, the parable is really about the brother with the attitude (religious folks) who won’t forgive his wayward brother.

Likewise we’d love it if we could just do a temple clearing and whip everyone into shape.  Whether it’s something in our church or something on the political scene.

But the danger is forgetting the real authority Jesus was exercising when He cleared the temple.  Not to mention how bad things had become when He drove everyone out.

It would be interesting to ask a law enforcement officer just how many of today’s laws Jesus broke.  There’s, disturbing the peace, assault, trespassing, criminal mischief, and vandalism, just to name a few.

Some love the way Jesus always gets in the face of all the religious leaders of His day.  They want to confront our political leaders like that.

But they don’t have the same legal rights that Jesus had.  After all He was, (And is) The King of The Jews.

However we have this interesting exchange between Jesus and the Pharisees in Luke 13 about Herod.

31At that time some Pharisees came to Jesus and said to him, “Leave this place and go somewhere else. Herod wants to kill you.”

32He replied, “Go tell that fox, ‘I will drive out demons and heal people today and tomorrow, and on the third day I will reach my goal.’ 33In any case, I must keep going today and tomorrow and the next day—for surely no prophet can die outside Jerusalem!”- Luke 13 :31-33 NIV

“Go tell that fox,?”  Was this a jab at the Roman leader over that district? And why call him, a fox? I suspect there’s more going on than meets the eye.

Perhaps we need to see how other New Testament heroes dealt with secular leaders.  John the Baptist called out Herod because he had his brother Philip’s wife.  But this was more a moral issue than politics.

The apostle Paul often connected with secular leaders.  But that was always in relation to The Gospel or when he was on trial.

So what would Jesus do in our situation?  This question helps keep me from getting too caught up with all the Obama Deranged Syndrome that’s going around.

Perhaps the best answer is found in Acts chapter 12.  This is where King Herod “The Fox” meets his end.

“Then Herod went from Judea to Caesarea and stayed there. 20 He had been quarreling with the people of Tyre and Sidon; they now joined together and sought an audience with him. Having secured the support of Blastus, a trusted personal servant of the king, they asked for peace, because they depended on the king’s country for their food supply.

21 On the appointed day Herod, wearing his royal robes, sat on his throne and delivered a public address to the people. 22 They shouted, “This is the voice of a god, not of a mere mortal.” 23 Immediately, because Herod did not give praise to God, an angel of the Lord struck him down, and he was eaten by worms and died.

24 But the word of God continued to increase and spread.”  Acts 12:19b-24 NIV

Perhaps the best way to deal with leaders we don’t like is to wait on God and have Him take them out.  Not that I’m putting a curse on anyone.  Even Kim Jong Il of North Korea can turn from his wicked ways before he dies.

And there are other ways to remove people from power besides death.  Which is what I will pray for everyone I disagree with.  I’d pray that God would have mercy on them and change their hearts or remove them from power peacefully.

In my humble opinion (With a nod to the third commandment) THAT is what Jesus would really do.

Papua (Indonesian province)

First of all, this in no way is meant to diminish the fine work our men and women are doing in containing the real threat of Islamic Fundamentalism. Around the world and clearly on our own shores there are those who organize into terror cells and seek to do as much damage as possible in the name of their demon god allah.

But even after we’ve broken up every possible network we can is there  still a way to win over hearts and minds?  Consider this story from the Muslim Nation of Indonesia.

A missionary named Buzz Maxey just spoke at our church.  He  serves The Lord over on a remote part of Papua Indonesia.  He told a story about a team from the Indonesian government coming to his island to extract the dead bodies from  a plane that had crashed in the area.

After they landed the whole area was socked in so badly by fog that everyone was stranded.  Someone asked Buzz if he could ask the tribal chief on the island to cast a witchcraft spell to lift the fog for everyone.

What they didn’t know since they couldn’t speak the local dialect and Missionary Buzz Maxey could, the local chief was no longer a pagan he was now a Christian.  So Buzz asked the chief if he could pray to Jesus about the weather.

Lo and behold the next morning the weather cleared and the men could accomplish their mission.  You could say it was a coincidence but it seems the weather never clears that fast in that part of the world.  All the government people on the trip wanted to thank the tribal chief for performing a miracle in the name of Jesus including the team leader who was a Muslim.

It seems everyone was impressed by a pagan tribe  who converted to Christianity on their own without compulsion and believed in Jesus strongly enough to change the weather.

The power of God changes hearts and minds without a single shot being fired!

Clear and Present Danger

September 20, 2009

Symbol of the three Abrahamic religions.
Image via Wikipedia

In contrast to my last post, where I celebrated the partnership between two of the world’s Abrahamic religions Christianity and Judaism, it’s time to blow the lid off of the third Abrahamic religion, Islam.

If it could be said that some good came out of 9-11-01 it’s how the world is waking up to this clear and present danger we now face.  Even now eight years later there are forces at work who want to destroy us.

http://atlasshrugs2000.typepad.com/atlas_shrugs/2009/09/zazi-the-nazi-fbi-thwarts-muslims-bombing-of-nyc-subway.html

“DENVER – Sources tell FOX 31 that Najibullah Zazi, 24, and his associates were planning on making a bomb to blow up a major transportation center in New York City.

The sources indicate that the group’s plan was to buy ingredients for the bomb as Zazi and his associates drove from Denver to New York and assemble the explosive device along the way.”

Islam is not just another benign religion we can place along side all the rest.  Not when you read what it says in their sacred book The Koran.

As an Evangelical Christian I understand the weight of a sacred text and the the influence it can have on a person’s life.  If I took The Koran as seriously as I take I take The Bible I would have no other choice than to be a terrorist activly involved in a jihad against all the infidels of the world.  I would be that way because The Koran tells me to.

To make matters worse I would have no way of knowing if my actions will gain enough merit to earn  entry into heaven until I die.  A Muslim must wait until their death to see their works weighed on a balance scale.  This is why they must pray five times a day “Allah have mercy on me.”  It’s because they fear everlasting punishment.

The only exception is if a believer dies in an act of Jihad.  Then they will gain instant entry into paradise.

That’s what makes their religion so highly volatile and dangerous.  As it says on “Bare Naked Islams’ ” main blog page,

“It’s not Islamaphobia if they really want to kill you.”

To be sure there are thousands of secular Muslims who pose no threat at all whatsoever.  The danger lies in the inflammatory rhetoric of The Koran itself.

There is no halfway with this book.  Once a person starts to take it seriously as the word of their God, Allah, they are instantly drafted into a Jihad against  the rest of the world.  To do otherwise is to face damnation.

Now there are some who claim The Bible is also filled with equally incendiary speech as well.  I will deal with that in my next posting.  (It was meant for Ancient Israel)

So what should we do with this clear and present danger on our shores?  First and foremost we need to stand behind all of our law enforcement personnel in their efforts to protect us.

As a Christian I will be praying for them and praying that all of those in government to either see the light or get the heck out of the way of those who do.

This is not the time to be scolding and handcuffing our FBI and CIA in the least.  To do so (Mr. President) is ludicrous and suicidal.

I’ll also be praying for those who have the chance to witness to Muslims, and letting them know how Jesus already paid their wages into heaven, so we are now free to love God and love our neighbors, as well.  (Not to try and kill them- thank you very much!)
