Here’s the way Time Warner Cable’s “Your News Now” covered today’s Tea Party in downtown Albany. (Click on picture)
For the most part their coverage was positive except when presenting an opposing view they always go for the most inflammatory. That would be former President’s Clinton remark comparing Tea Party protesters to the terrorists who caused the Oklahoma City bombings.
(OH WELL, PAR FOR THE COURSE!)

I may have to get treated for self abuse over this one folks!
OW! OW! OW!
Why God? Why?
One of the coolest political events to come to little Deadbany
(Every out of towners favorite nickname for Albany NY)
is this Saturday and I can’t go.
It’s at The Albany Riverfront Park at the Corning Preserve on Quay St. right off of I-787.
Here’s the link
The good news is my awesome cool wife (how’s that for earning get out of the doghouse free points?)
will be able to attend with her hen posse
Besides the reason I can’t go is there’s an important seminar happening at my church
and that takes priority
besides, no big deal
my awesome wife will be there!

Never mind who let the dogs out!
Who let the pigs in? Who threw their pearls to the swine?
As in,who let the pigs into the church so that people with a malevolent agenda could film children and children ministry leaders in some very intimate deeply spiritual moments!!!
I’m talking about one of the most inspirational films I’ve ever seen. It’s inspiring because it totally torqued me off! There is smoke pouring from my nostrils and fire balls over my head!
“Jesus Camp,” is an evil twisted movie that takes the precious innocence of child like faith and makes it out to be something like Hitler’s Youth Program or Mao’s Cultural Revolution.
It looks like some well meaning Christian leaders were conned into letting this serpent, film their youth camp. They of course only show the most controversial radical moments.
So, I’m inspired and proud of all the all the kids in the film and the youth director who got scammed by this snake in the grass film maker.
I wish I could send my kids to a camp like the one in this movie.
If you have NETFLIX on line you can get the documentary “Jesus Camp” on demand.
Just be prepared to be torqued off if you’re an evangelical Christian!

A few weeks back I blogged about an after hours drug rehab program in Puerto Rico that gives away needles to their clients after hours from a vending machine. With tongue in cheek I asked, “When will we see this in Schenectady?
While there aren’t any vending machines just yet right down the road from Schenectady, in neighboring Albany NY, Catholic Charities is giving away clean needles from a mobile van unit.
There are people raising all kinds of objections to this program, in spite of the fact that it’s already up and running in 17 communities around the state. They say it encourages more drug use. Of course proponents of the plan insist they’ve reduced the spread of AIDS where the program is in place.
The knee jerk conservative reaction would be to agree with the law enforcement people who believe we’re just going to be stuck with allot more lazy addicts to deal with. And who says a real addict gives a darn about a clean needle anyway.
But I’m not a knee jerk conservative. There’s something else to consider here as well. Besides handing out needles shouldn’t Catholic Charities be handing out hope as well?
The last time I checked Catholics were still considered to be Christians.
Jesus,God,redemption,salvation, THE BIBLE!
We’re supposed to be all about hope.
Anything to reduce the spread of AIDS is a good thing. But wouldn’t getting people off drugs and into rehab be even better?
It’s the same thing when it comes to handing out free condoms to teenagers. I’m not a knee jerk conservative here either. Condoms can also prevent the spread of STD’s, reduce the number of unwanted pregnancies and reduce the need for abortions. So I’m for the whole condom idea as long people also talk about taking pride in one’s body.
Oh No! It’s the dreaded “A” word!
Hey! It’s your body and your time.
Who says you have to lose your virginity by 16 anyway?
Therefore I believe anything out to prevent the spread of HIV is a good thing.
I just think it would be better to try and reach out to people’s souls as well.
-What say you?
Feel free to comment pro or con.
Just don’t be too snarky OK? 😉

CN9 has a story about an Albany NY area woman who was finally united at last with the little girl from Haiti she’s been trying to adopt for the last two years. Four years earlier the woman had adopted the girl’s brother, so this was quite a reunion!
Meanwhile my wife and I have a taste of what this new forever family is now feeling. Ten years ago this month we adopted a baby girl from China. There was no earthquake involved in our adoption but we did have our own share of setbacks and nail biting moments.
So congratulations, to Melissa Charest, Emma and Jacob, Charest, a new forever family! Welcome to the USA Emma!

It’s one thing to forget about mistakes made generations ago. But stupid New York State should have known better.
Those who forget their RECENT history are doomed to repeat it. And that’s just inexcusable!
A report and audit by New York State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli‘s office of the New York State Department of Transportation reveals a number of bridges across the state are in need of repair – and some may be in worse shape than the Champlain Bridge which was recently shut down and demolished. HT-CN9
When it comes to our bridges we’ve literally been down this road before. This isn’t the first time we’ve suddenly had a large amount of bridges in need of repair.
The Schoharie Creek Bridge on the New York State Thruway collapsed on the morning of April 5, 1987 after three decades of service. The collapse of pier three caused two spans to fall into the flooded creek. Five vehicles fell into the river, and ten occupants died.
Back then as now there was a mad rush to inspect all of New York’s bridges. Not only were a number found to be in need of repair but a number were found impassable. In the Albany area the Route 4 bridge just north of Schuylerville was closed as a result of these inspections.
If only we learned our lesson back then. Don’t take bridges for granted, but inspect them frequently. Either that or 20 years from we’ll be going through the same thing someplace else!
It’s just so frustrating when it seems no matter what the issue is politicians have to play their games. They don’t care that lives and livelihoods could be at stake.
How can we get more people in government who care more about something other than just getting reelected?
